The Air Quality Program (AQP) within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill an Air Emissions and Regulatory Engineer (Environmental Engineer 2)(In-Training) position. This position is located in the- Headquarters Office in Lacey, WA.
In this position you will work under the oversight of the Air Quality Program’s senior professional engineer, apply engineering skills and regulatory understanding to ensure program proposals and initiatives meet federal and state air quality requirements. They will prepare data and perform engineering calculations and analyses, in preparation of engineering reports, air quality plans, orders, and permits, for review by the senior engineer and management. This requires working with local clean air agencies, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), other state agencies, tribes, environmental organizations, industry association representatives, and the public. Some issues are controversial and complex, requiring this position to use effective communication and interaction skills to address the concerns of the regulated community, other agencies, and the public.
During Healthy Washington Roadmap to Recovery, employees are working a combination of in-office and/or telework based on position and business need. This position is not currently required to work in the office on a regular basis.
