A&WMA Virtual Brownbag – Anaerobic Digestion

Kyle Bair, Regional Environmental Manager, Amalgamated Sugar

Christian Tasser, Senior Engineer | Associate, Carollo

Kyle & Christian will discuss the basics of anaerobic digestion including organic loading rates, quality of substrates, and beneficial biogas (cogeneration and renewable natural gas [Federal Renewable Fuel Standard and eRIN Program]).  The discussion will include a case-study on the design, construction, and startup of anaerobic digester at the Amalgamated Sugar in Nampa, Idaho.

Kyle Bair has worked for Amalgamated Sugar Company for 12 years in various capacities. Over the last 5 years, Kyle has managed all aspects of environmental compliance for the Nampa, Idaho factory. Kyle’s educational background is in Biology and Environmental Science.

Christian Tasser has 23 years of experience in water and wastewater projects as a Design Engineer and Project Manager. Christian has experience in Europe and USA working on biogas cogeneration and food waste to energy facilities. He has managed various upgrades and expansions of industrial and municipal water/wastewater and biogas plants.  Christian has designed, permitted, and operated fuel cells, engines, and microturbines and has knowledge of energy tariffs and federal incentives for renewable energy projects.
