The Air Quality Program (AQP) within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill an Air Quality Permit Engineering Specialist (Environmental Engineer 2)(In-Training) position. This position is located in the Eastern Regional Office (ERO) in Spokane, WA.
As an Air Quality Permit Engineering Specialist, you will have the opportunity to work with industries emitting large quantities of air pollutants within eastern Washington. You will serve a vital role in protecting human health and the environment by evaluating applications and writing air quality Notice of Construction (NOC) approval orders and Air Operating Permits under the oversight of a licensed professional engineer. In this position, you will apply engineering knowledge, skills, and training as well as regulatory understanding to ensure compliance with state and federal air regulations. You will routinely interact with other Air Quality Program staff, industries, consultants, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), local and state agencies, environmental organizations, and the public to complete the permits.
